Tulum Spring Updates

TOTAL SOLAR ECLIPSE, MONDAY, APRIL 8TH, 2024.

Sun, promotions and an eclipse are coming up

TOTAL SOLAR ECLIPSE, MONDAY, APRIL 8TH, 2024.

This will be the last total solar eclipse visible from the 48 contiguous United States until 2044.

A total solar eclipse occurs when the Moon passes between the Sun and Earth, completely blocking the face of the Sun. People viewing the eclipse from locations where the Moon’s shadow completely covers the Sun – known as the path or fringe of totality – will experience a total solar eclipse. The sky will darken, as if it were sunrise or sunset. Weather permitting, people in the path of totality will see the Sun’s corona, or outer atmosphere, which is usually obscured by the bright side of the Sun.

A total solar eclipse is the only type of solar eclipse where viewers can momentarily remove their eclipse glasses (which are not the same as regular sunglasses). It is only safe to remove eclipse glasses during what is known as totality, the brief period of time when the Moon completely blocks the Sun.

What you can see during a total solar eclipse will depend on weather conditions and where you view it from.

Weather conditions: You need clear skies to get the full eclipse experience, with a clear view of the Sun and Moon. However, the ghostly daytime darkness associated with eclipses is still noticeable even with cloud cover.

WHERE TO SEE IT.

To see all stages of a total solar eclipse, you must observe it from somewhere along the path of totality: the places on Earth where the Moon’s shadow completely covers the Sun. The path of totality for the April 8, 2024 total solar eclipse is shown below in yellow. Eclipse watchers outside the path of totality may see a partial eclipse, in which the Moon covers most, but not all, of the Sun. Eclipse glasses are required for the entire duration of an eclipse when viewed from outside the path of totality.

Since the umbra crosses North America more or less through the center, all three countries will be covered by the penumbra and almost all of their inhabitants will be able to see a partial eclipse, with the exception of those living in Alaska and parts of Hawaii.

In Mexico City, the partial eclipse will cover 79% of the solar disk. Central America, the Caribbean, Greenland, Iceland and the Azores Islands will also see some partial solar eclipse. The Canary Islands will not be as lucky because the maximum will occur shortly after sunset.

The Moon will be at its perigee. The Moon will pass through the perigee of its orbit one day before the eclipse, which means that it will be at a close distance to the Earth and will be 5.5% larger than normal in appearance. Because of this, the size and extent of its shadow will be larger.

In Quintana Roo and Tulum, the eclipse will be partially observed.

HOW TO TAKE ADVANTGE OF THE SPECIAL ENERGY OF AN ECLIPSE

Energetic cleansing rituals are necessary for a balanced space. On the other hand, solar eclipses are powerful astral events that bring with them a unique and transformative energy. During a solar eclipse, the moon comes between the Earth and the sun, creating a shadow that temporarily obscures our star. This phenomenon is seen by many cultures as a time of spiritual renewal and cleansing. Harnessing the energy of a solar eclipse can be an opportunity to let go of the past, release negative energies and make space for growth and transformation.

Solar purification bath

A solar purification bath is one of the most effective energy cleansing rituals to perform during a solar eclipse. Before the eclipse, fill a bathtub with warm water and add sea salt or pink salt to purify and relax your body. At the time of the eclipse, immerse yourself in the water and close your eyes. Imagine the energy of the solar eclipse bathing you and purifying your body and mind. Visualize any negative energy or blockages you wish to release vanishing into the water.

While underwater, you can also use quartz crystals, such as clear quartz or citrine quartz, which are known for their ability to amplify energy and cleanse the aura. Place these crystals in the water or hold them in your hands while meditating on your intention to release and renew. After bathing, if possible, dry yourself in the sun to further absorb the energy of the solar eclipse.

While in Quintana Roo, the eclipse will only be seen as partial, at Mereva we celebrate this one-of-a-kind energy boosting event, and would love you to be part of it with us.

BEST TIME TO TRAVEL TO TULUM

A very convenient coincidence is that this upcoming eclipse occurs in one of Tulum’s least busy seasons, so you’ll find very attractive rates for both airfare and rooms.

Take advantage of the fact that Tulum already has its own international airport and that Mereva, Alea and Nerea are already in Volaris’ YA VAS program. Also, if you are an American citizen, you can book air + hotel from the web page of the three hotels, paying in monthly installments.

Nahuma Hotels offer incredibly reduced rates for stays on April and May!
